William Zepeda Calls Out Shakur Stevenson and “Tank” Wahid
In his latest win, #1 (WBA), #1 (WBC), #3 (WBO) and #6 (IBF) ranked lightweight fighter William “Camaron” Zepeda (30-0, 26 KO’s) picked up a fresh stoppage. In four short rounds the Mexican bruiser casually chewed up and spit out Maxi Hughes like a cheek full of sunflower seeds. As he already occupies the mandatory position for two separate champions, unsurprisingly Zepeda called out both WBA 135-pound champion Abdul “Tank” Wahid (FKA Gervonta Davis) (29-0, 27 KO’s) and WBC lightweight champion “Fearless” Shakur Stevenson (21-0, 10 KO’s).
“I am ready for Shakur or Gervonta, we are ready for whoever. Whoever is on that list we are going after. Now, who has to do the homework is Oscar De La Hoya!”
MEXICO VS NEW JERSEY?!
While there still has been no official word on the matter, all signs are pointing to Tank facing fellow PBC fighter Frank Martin. Many insiders feel this duel is next and the two principal characters have traded words lately like there is an impending collision. This is all said to say: Zepeda may not have the greatest shot at dancing with Tank next.
On the other hand, Stevenson is presently looking for suitable opposition to return to the ring with. Following a brief and farcical retirement that was fueled by a self-admitted temper tantrum, Fearless is ready to get back to action.
In all honesty, Zepeda versus Stevenson does make a lot of sense; It satisfies a mandatory for Stevenson and Camaron is an excellent fighter. Even more importantly for Stevenson, a win over such a rough customer as Zepeda will go a long way to restore the luster that was lost in his painfully boring prizefight with Edwin De Los Santos. So, let’s see if their two teams view the bout mutually beneficial and pen a contract!
