Yap Contemplates Retirement

Mark John Yap

Mark John Yap possibly retires vacating OPBF title

Famous Filipino boxer Mark John Yap may be contemplating retirement! Many may speculate that the close loss against Takuma Inoue for the WBC title eliminator was taken very personal.

The 29 year-old Japanese resident’s career has expanded over eleven years. He has shared the ring with some quality names in the division.

The #11 rated WBC contender’s record (29-13, 14 KOs) can be deceiving, consisting of wins over Takafumi Nakajima, Kentaro Masuda, and Tatsuya Ikemizu. These career highlights, however, remain in the shadow of his best, most memorable victory against Takahiro Yamamoto; wherein he captured the first minor title OPBF.

Yap has finally achieved top contender status within the division, proving that he can fight with the best. It would be a great loss to the sport to see him leave in this manner.

No official announcement has been made, although, vacating the OPBF is a sure sign that some kind of decision has been made.

We here at 3kingsboxing hopes Yap will return after some time passes. However, if not, we say thank you and wish him well with what the future holds.
