Hank Lundy Fills In For Ivan Redkach Against Adrien Broner On BLK Prime
Adjusting on the fly is commonplace for this sport. It’s not out of the ordinary to be in the midst of preparing for one opponent, only for circumstances to cause a change of opponent. Such is the case currently for Adrien “AB” Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs) as he gets his third opponent change for his “expected” comeback in “Hammerin'” Hank Lundy (31-12-1, 14 KOs).
A multiple-division world champion, Broner was to fight Ivan Redkach on February 25 at Gateway Center in Atlanta, Georgia on BLK Prime. However, Redkach withdrew from the bout due to a disagreement with promoter Joe DeGuardia. Lundy was more than happy to fill-in.
A NEW BEGINNING
AB made waves when he left the PBC banner and signed a deal with BLK Prime in October 2022. This upcoming bout will be his debut with the new banner and his first time in the ring in two years. Broner’s last outing was a unanimous decision victory over Jovanie Santiago in February 2021.
Next up is Lundy, who enters this bout on a four-fight losing streak. At one time, Lundy was considered a solid contender. At this point, the 39-year-old is little more than a journeyman. He will be looking to capture a sizeable upset and he’s confident he can do so.
Broner wants to win and look good doing so. He hopes a dominant performance *moves him closer to a possible match with WBC junior welterweight champion Regis Prograis (28-1, 24 KOs) later this year.
