Janibek Alimkhanuly Eyeing a Move Up to Super Middleweight to Target Canelo

WBO middleweight champion Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly (13-0, 8KO) continues to call for a fight with the other champions in the division. Moreover, he believes that undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol are easy work.

Tired of not getting the big fights Qazaq Style told The Ring a move up to super middleweight is under consideration. Furthermore, he continues to show extreme confidence in his ability by claiming fights with Canelo (59-2-1, 39KO) and Bivol (21-0, 11KO) are easy victories.

“If I don’t get champions next year, of course, I’ll box at 168 pounds. Canelo is easy work for me. Not only Canelo, I can easily beat Bivol. I know myself; the time will come, and you will see for yourself.”

ALIMKHANULY REASON FOR MOVING UP

Alimkhanuly has been trying to get a fight with some of the big names in the division. In 2021, he petitioned the WBO to order a fight with then-champion Demetrius Andrade. The fight never materialized as Andrade opted to move up in weight, resulting in the Kazakhstani getting elevated to full champion after defeating Danny Dignum for the Interim title.

In 2022, he accused former junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia of ducking after his team at Golden Boy Promotions decided to forgo the WBO order to fight for the title.

3kingsboxing.com reported the WBO ordered the champion to fight another former junior middleweight champion, Liam Smith. Yet, Smith was not able to comply due to the rematch with Chris Eubank Jr.

Alimkhanuly is coming off a subpar victory performance against Denzel Bentley. However, he is promising the fans can expect a sensational knockout victory in the upcoming fight against Steven Butler Live on ESPN, on May 13.
