Ivan Baranchyk dominates and stops Anthony Yigit and advances to the WBSS semi-finals!

In a fight for the vacant IBF junior welterweight title, contenders Ivan Baranchyk and Anthony Yigit battled it out.

Baranchyk came out setting the tone with vicious combinations. Round two saw Yigit hurt by his opponent, who kept the pressure on non-stop. Although Yigit, to his credit, showed tremendous toughness and resiliency to keep battling back.

Meanwhile, in round five, the left eye of Yigit started to close due to punishment. Partial credit also goes to a cut received by an accidental head butt.

Rounds six and seven were more of the same as the Russian continued the pressure. In round seven, however, a point was deducted for repeatedly holding down the Yigit’s head. After a right hand to the temple hurt Yigit, he launched a smothering, punishing assault. Yigit wouldn’t make it out the round. The referee halted the action at the three minute mark of round seven.

Ivan Baranchyk, now the new IBF junior welterweight champion, improves his record to 19-0, 12 KOs. He advances to the semi-finals where he now awaits the winner of Josh Taylor vs Ryan Martin.
