David Benavidez Wants to hurt Caleb Plant!

The super middleweight division is loaded with dream match-ups and when looking down the line for unification fights, there are none that stick out more than a possible David Benavidez vs Caleb Plant contest.

However, Benavidez must first regain his WBC title that was stripped from him due to cocaine use back in 2018.

The undefeated 22-year old Arizona native is eager to reclaim what he feels rightfully belongs to him. However, he continues to taunt his rival stablemate, IBF champion Plant.

THE HISTORY OF THE RIVALRY

These two have been going back and forth since 2018. A fight between the two top undefeated PBC super middleweights has been brewing even before they were both champions.

The fighters were once seen in a face-off backstage in 2018. Words were exchanged, giving fans a glimpse of things to come.

Plant said to a smiling Benavidez, “You can fight, but you’re an ugly motherfucker!”

The IBF champion has made it clear the willingness to face his rival, provided he is victorious against current WBC champion Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell on September 28 at the Staple Center.

The man they call “Sweet Hands” has also taken a few personal jabs at the former champion’s drug issue.

“If he can nose clean, then maybe we can figure something out!”

The former world champion has expressed his own reasons for wanting to put the hurt on the IBF champion.

“I just don’t like him, he’s cocky. We got some stuff that happened in the gym, talks a lot of shit. I don’t know, I just want to knock him out and break his face.”

Strong words like that means this rivalry has reached a fever pitch level and will be a promotional dream. If the former world champion recaptures the title, look for a call out after the fight.
