Bill Haney Feels Backstabbed by Shakur Stevenson

Over the past several months, there has been a growing feud between undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (30-0, 15 KO’s) and two-division champion “Fearless” Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KO’s). In short, Stevenson has launched an unsuccessful public campaign seeking a 135-pound showdown with Haney. Actually though, Fearless could have gotten his shot at the whole quartet of titles had he not turned down an offer presented by Team Haney.

Stevenson’s decision to pass on the fight was rationalized by the self-belief that he was worth more than the 25% he was being offered. Even still, there clearly must be a rage burning in the New Jersey native’s belly as he continues to lash out at The Dream and his camp. During his latest attempted assault via social media, Fearless leaked a snippet of footage capturing Bill Haney, Devin’s father and trainer, speaking about a potential fight between the two principal characters.

SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!

With the morals and background that he’s been tempered by, the seasoned chief second was particularly offended and blindsided. As he explained to ThaBoxingVoice, the released video feed was perceived as a sniper attack by a one–time friend.

“Right now today, it’s like somebody that you really cared about do some hoe shit to the tenth power! You think that maybe it’s going to stop, you know what I am saying. But right now I got bit by a vicious snake, Nes. Now let me go to the hospital . . . and Shakur, you brought the guy to the meeting, you were responsible for that guy. He gave you the recording, you told Danny and them, you told everybody you would put it out. ”

BUCKLE UP

Without question, this agitated situation just took a turn down a rockier and far less forgiving road. Judging by the current landscape, these feelings will only continue to fester. This is due to Haney zeroing in on a fight with WBC super lightweight champion Regis Prograis and rumblings have it Stevenson is on a crash course with #3 (WBA), #4 (WBC), #6 (WBO) and #6 (IBF) ranked lightweight fighter Frank Martin.

So let’s see if these fights get an official announcement and then move on from there. The fighters, however, are sure to continue exchanging words and 3Kings Boxing will be here to help navigate all the vitriolic back and forth!
