Brandon Adams Stops Villarreal to Advance; Veron Up Next!

Viewed as the favorite in the Overtime Boxing junior middleweight tournament, Brandon “Cannon” Adams (24-3, 15KO) crushed Ismael Villarreal (13-3, 9KO) with a vicious body shot.

The Cannon landed shots to the body early as both men decided to fight in a phonebooth. He was clicking on all cylinders and attacking with relentless aggression. Villarreal wasn’t going to go away easy and came back with hard body shots of his own. He even landed solid uppercuts that momentarily halted Adams.

As the third round was coming to a close, the Cannon landed a debilitating left hook to the liver that took away his opponent’s legs. Despite getting up several times, Villarreal kept falling back to the canvas, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

It was an excellent statement-making victory by Adams, who was returning to the ring after a three-year layoff. With this win, he will face a buzzsaw of a fighter in Francisco Veron. This fight has fireworks written all over it, as both men are aggressive and fight at a high pace. It will be the power of Cannon vs the toughness of Bebu; something will have to give.

During the post-fight interview, Adams expressed being excited about moving closer to finals.
