Garcia and Campbell ready for their international dust-up

Lightweight contender Ryan “KingRy” Garcia (20-0, 17 KO’s) will face the challenge of Luke Campbell (20-3, 16 KO’s) on December 5. While the date has been locked in, the location and venue have not. The biggest hold-up on the venue announcement is determining if fans will be allowed. Once Golden Boy Promotions can clarify that issue, the venue announcement should follow in short order.

Without question this dust-up will stand as Garcia’s greatest in-ring test by far. Despite coming up short, Campbell has challenged for world titles on two separate occasions. The first time coming against Jorge Linares (47-5, 29 KO’s) and the second versus Vasiliy “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KO’s). The experience and education that he obtained in those bouts is lightyears beyond anything that Garcia has garnered in his professional career. Now, Campbell is ready to show Garcia why he still has a lot to learn.

“There’s been a lot of talk and he’s clearly a very highly regarded fighter, but I’m going to prove that this is far too much, far too soon and that I’m on a completely different level. I’ve fought in America before, so this will be nothing new for myself and my team. Fans or no fans, the one thing I can guarantee is that I will be coming back to the UK with the victory.”

GARCIA READY TO HUMBLE THE VETERAN

Remaining un-phased by his older and more battle tested foe, KingRy is excited to prove his worth against Campbell. He is well-aware that there is no shortage of fight fans and boxing insiders that believe he is food for the Yorkshire native. Yet, rather than shrinking back from the moment, the challenge appears to be a great motivating factor for the Californian.

“I’ve been eagerly waiting to get back in the ring and have been working harder than ever to get here. It’s been a tough year for everyone, but I’m excited to bring the fans an escape for the night. Or, based on my track record, a few minutes at most. Luke’s record speaks for itself, but I’m ready to prove the doubters wrong. This is my era now and December 5 just the start of it.”

Only time will tell who prevails, but with only two months to go, we will not have to wait long!
