Canelo Alvarez v Billy Joe Saunders headed to Arlington, Texas
The huge three-belt unification between WBA, WBC and Ring magazine super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez (55-1-2, 37KOs) and WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14KOs) on May 8 is headed to Texas! The fight will take place at the AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. This comes as no surprise considering the state of Texas’ COVID-19 restrictions are being lifted. AT&T Stadium holds one hundred thousand people, which is music to the ears of Eddie Hearn and Canelo Alvarez.

Alvarez’s last fight in Texas came in December of 2020, where he easily defeated former WBA and Ring Super Middleweight champion Callum Smith (27-1, 19KOs). Prior to that, Alvarez would fight another Smith brother, Liam, in AT&T Stadium back in 2016. In that fight, he would win by ninth round knockout to win the WBO Junior Middleweight title.
With Alvarez’s huge following, I would not be surprised if there was a sellout come May 8. Although, that is contingent on his and Eddie Hearn’s decision to open the stadium all the way up, which they do have the option to do.
