Chris Colbert Confident That he Easily Defeats Frank Martin!
Since unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr called out former WBA Interim 130-pound champion Chris “Primetime” Colbert (16-1, 6KOs) on behalf of his fighter Frank Martin (16-0, 12KOs), it appears that the two will fight later this year. Martin recently disposed of Jackson Marinez, stopping him in ten rounds.
As for Colbert, he’s coming off a one-sided loss to Hector Luis Garcia back in February. The surprising loss has Colbert looking to get back to his winning ways in a big way. The Ghost is viewed as a potential future world champion. So, a win here would put Primetime right back where he wants to be – among the best young fighters in boxing today.
PRIMETIME IS STILL AS CONFIDENT AS EVER!
Some may have thought Colbert’s confidence had taken a hit since his upset loss to Garcia. However, if you talk to him, you’ll hear that it’s the total opposite. Moreover, he’s supremely confident he’ll easily defeat Martin if the two men indeed do fight later this year.
“Like I told Errol Spence, I’m hungry right now, bro. I’m hungry and taxes are coming around, so I have to tax niggas like Uncle Sam.”
“Yeah, for sure! [Frank Martin is] my next fight. I’m back this year; I’m back in September or October, so he’s going to be the guy.”
Colbert also gave a rundown on how he sees the fight going.
“I already told you, I’m going to beat him in an easy fight. I’m going to make it look easy, and then everybody is going to want to fight Frank Martin. Nobody wants to fight Frank Martin right now, but everybody is going to want to fight him then.”
With statements like this, Colbert is definitely going to have to back up his talk. The Brooklyn native sure knows how to talk a good game. If the fight with Martin comes to fruition, he’s going to have to be much better than he was against Garcia back in February.
