Chris Colbert Credits Shakur Stevenson on Talent But Sees No Dog in Him

On February 26, 2022, super featherweight contender Chris “Primetime” Colbert (16-0, 6 KO’s) will face the challenge of Hector Luis Garcia. The two will test their might against one another under the hot lights of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Despite his being undefeated, the brash and ultra-confident Colbert knows little to nothing about him. This didn’t prevent Primetime from telling Fight Hype that he was going to work him over though.

“I don’t know nothing about him, so I can’t tell you what I see but I know I am going to dominate him. I am going to beat his ass!”

BITTER WITH THE SWEET

While it is always a formula for disaster to overlook an opponent in boxing, it would be untruthful to believe that Colbert has not daydreamed of bigger fights down the line. One such fight, that he’s already talked about, would pit him versus WBO super featherweight champion “Fearless” Shakur Stevenson (17-0, 9 KO’s).

The feisty Brooklyn pugilist has never been shy about mentioning Stevenson and this occasion was no different. In this instance, it was compounded by Primetime reacting to Stevenson claiming A-side status if they ever dueled.

“I don’t go off nobodies terms, I don’t fight on nobody time, nobody calls any shots with me. I don’t work a regular job where I have a boss, so I don’t know what the fuck he is talking about. That’s a tremendous fight, yeah! But, at the end of the day, the dog is going to win and I’m a dog!”

“[…] We don’t know if he a dog, we’ve never seen that. I know I am a dog. I’ve been there, I had the fights in the ring and outside in the street! I know I am a dog.”

It should only be expected that Colbert would have supreme confidence in himself. Yet, this does not prevent him from extending Stevenson his just due.

“Shakur is definitely a talented fighter, I don’t take nothing from nobody. I’m not a hater. He is a very talented fighter.”

PULL YOUR WEIGHT!

Before they can meet in the ring themselves however, they must first take care of their own business. Colbert has the aforementioned bout with Garcia whereas Fearless has a swiftly approaching dance date with WBC super featherweight champion Oscar Valdez on April 30.

Yet, once again, rather than hurling verbal stones at Stevenson, Colbert co-signed him heading into the offensive with Valdez. If both are victorious, Fearless would without question make for a fun opponent for the #1 (WBA) ranked Colbert to secure.

“Shakur is going to wipe him [Oscar Valdez], wipe him with the floor!”
