Terence Crawford To Target Jermell Charlo Over Jaron Ennis
Two-divisional undisputed champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31KO) understands that a fight with IBF mandatory Jaron “Boots” Ennis (31-0, 28KO) can be made. But, he expresses a preference for fighting the undisputed junior middleweight champion, Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-1-1, 19KO).
The boxing world continues to shower Bud with praise after his dominant performance against former unified champion Errol Spence Jr on July 29. Following the fight, boxing fans swiftly shifted their attention to a potential showdown between Crawford and Ennis.
A CHANCE TO BECOME UNDISPUTED IN A THIRD DIVISION
During an interview on Hot97, Crawford admitted to having no issues with facing Boots, but he is currently eyeing a bigger opportunity.
“That [fight] can happen cause we’re at the same weight class, but at this point in time, I’m looking for bigger and better opportunities, like Charlo.”
After his victory over Spence, Crawford caught the attention of boxing fans when he was seen shouting in Charlo’s direction. When asked about the incident, he explained.
“I gave him a little piece of my mind. You know, I mean, we’ve been going back for some time . . . I was in the moment. I just thought to let him know, that you know I’m coming for him too.”
The history of these two verbally attacking each other is well-documented. In 2022, the two-division undisputed champion accused the Texan of being jealous and not on his level. Iron Man once suggested that Crawford contact Premier Boxing Champions’ Al Haymon to make the fight.
Keep in mind, a fight with the Texan is more valuable than Ennis due to the possibility of Crawford becoming undisputed in a third division. Although he desires to fight the undisputed junior middleweight champ, he will have to wait. Charlo has a date with undisputed super middleweight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on September 30.
