David Price is bitten twice en route to a disqualification victory!

After going 2-3 in his last five fights, the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist David Price gets another one in the win column!

The pre-fight antics promised a good one. While the bout had it’s dull moments, it wouldn’t be a David Price fight without the controversy!

The jab-straight right combination was on point from the former Olympian all night! Kash Ali had no answer given his lack of defense and his inability to get around the 82″ reach of his opponent. He did have some success with the jab to the body, however, Price would consistently time the straight right over his jab.

In the third round, the damage became visible as the nose of Ali started to pour blood that could be seen on the body of Price.

Enter Stage Right: Controversy!

Here is where things start to get weird! After being wobbled by a right hand, Ali ties up. Suddenly, you can see Price motion to the referee during the break indicating he had been bitten! The first thing that came to mind was “is this going to be Holyfield vs Tyson 2 all over again?”

Shortly after, another right hand causes a tie up where Ali made a blatant attempt to head-butt Price!

The referee immediately takes a point away from the Birmingham fighter. At this point, Ali was starting to look really bad. He was getting beaten up, the fight was clearly swinging in Price’s favor and he had resorted to illegal tactics.

Then in round five, an uppercut wobbles Ali again. This time Price jumped right on him hurting him again with a right hand. Ali clung on for dear life as the two fall to the canvas.

The referee almost needed a “jaws of life” just to get the Birmingham fighter off of the former Olympian. As Ali is finally pulled to his feet, the referee waives of the fight.

At first it seemed the stoppage was ridiculous and another premature stoppage preventing a satisfying knockout victory. However, as the camera panned towards Price, you can see a visible bite mark on body of Price.

Ali did it again! This time, the bite would get him disqualified! The fans booed in dismay of the performance from the former undefeated fighter.

Ringside, former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew stated that Ali should never be allowed to fight again for his antics.

Although he may not have wanted to get back in the win column this way, Price improves his record to 24-6, with 19 knockouts. However, the 35 year-old still has a long way to go before we can consider him a major contender in the division!
