Spence vs Crawford Has A November Date & Venue
It looks like boxing fans will get to see one of the more anticipated bouts in the sport today. According to ESPN, unified 147-pound champion Errol Spence (28-0, 22KO) and WBO champ Terence Crawford (38-0, 29KO) have agreed to terms on a battle for the undisputed welterweight championship.
The contest is targeted for November 19 in Las Vegas. Part of the terms includes a rematch clause for the loser in which case the winner would take a bigger share of the purse in the rematch. Crawford has accepted all financial terms, which included taking less money.
This bout has been talked about and played out in the minds of boxing fans for years! But, following Spence’s stoppage win over Yordenis Ugas in April 2022, the unified champ said Crawford is who he wants to fight next. The WBO champ responded in kind, saying that fighting Spence is his main priority.
From there, serious negotiations began. Things were made easier as Crawford is now a free agent. But, after much back and forth between both camps, the fight is now a go. No formal contracts have been signed, but all that’s left to do is iron out the final minor details.
Spence vs Crawford is a super-fight and arguably the best match-up that could be made. You have two elite fighters in their prime. Expect this to be a huge pay-per-view fight that will go beyond the realm of boxing. This is a mega-sports event. Because there has been no formal announcement, stay tuned to 3KingsBoxing for further updates.
