Jermaine Franklin taunts Dillian Whyte!
Rising unbeaten heavyweight prospect Jermaine “989 Assassin” Franklin (20-0, 13KOs) is itching to prove himself against Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (28-2, 19KOs). The last couple of days, Franklin has virtually hounded the WBC interim heavyweight champion and mandatory challenger. Whyte, who’ll return to the ring on October 30 is in search of an opponent, or is he?!
According to Franklin himself, he has already signed his portion of the contract to face Whyte. He took to social media to taunt and question why Whyte hadn’t yet done the same.
To be fair, Whyte is looking at multiple fighters as possible opponents for his October 30 fight. The Body Snatcher will obviously look to be very selective with who he faces next. A shot at the winner of the Tyson Fury v Deontay Wilder WBC heavyweight trilogy title fight is almost guaranteed.
Franklin is understandably excited and eager about the possibility of fighting Whyte. However, he must know that he poses way more risk than reward for the British contender. So while this fight is obviously more beneficial for him, Whyte will proceed with extreme caution, especially considering how he was brutally knocked out against Alexander Povetkin in August of 2020. The loss cost him his WBC interim title and mandatory status. He would exact revenge back in March, reclaiming everything he lost in his first bout with Povetkin.
