Tyson Fury says give Dillian Whyte his title shot!
Undefeated lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has made it clear the WBC needs to give #1 ranked and silver champion Dillian Whyte his opportunity at Deontay Wilder!
In a recent interview with Behind The Gloves, the charismatic fighter gave his point of view:
“I don’t really think too much of it cause it’s like I’m the lineal heavyweight champion. I fight who I want, when I want, how I want!
“I don’t need to fight eliminators to fight people. I’ve already had a Deontay Wilder fight without an eliminator.”
“I think it’s very unfair how they are treating Dillian Whyte because he’s had to fight some good men to work his way back up the ladder and I’m starting believe what he says. They don’t want him to fight for the title.”
Fury isn’t alone. There are many pundits and fans inside the boxing community that share this same sentiment and it’s puzzling as to why the WBC has yet to mandate this fight.
This also gives credence to what promoter Eddie Hearn recently claimed in saying there was a possibility that Fury wouldn’t accept the WBC decision.
Moving forward, things are going to get tricky for the WBC if Fury indeeds stick to his guns and rejects the order. The only option left is the counter-argument made by Whyte of making his upcoming fight with Oscar Rivas for the mandatory position.
It’s worth noting, we recently reported here that WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman isn’t opposed to Whyte’s appeal as well!
