Fury Says Hearn Full of Hot Air
When Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (30-0-1, 21 KO’s) captured the WBC belt, it instantly set up a potential all-UK mega-fight with Anthony “AJ” Joshua (23-1, 21 KO’s). With AJ owning the WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight world titles, Fury’s WBC strap would crown a new undisputed heavyweight champion. It goes without saying this would be among any UK fight fans wildest dream events.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has continuously called for the fight in the public eye. While it might sound good, minus a magic star twinkling high in some Disney movie sky, it’s very unlikely to happen. The Gypsy King is obligated to face Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KO’s) in a mandated rematch and Wilder has presented zero indication that he is willing to step aside.
Furthermore, Fury himself has repeatedly stated that even if Wilder wanted to step aside, he is unwilling to pay him to do so. Across the ocean, Joshua also has a required dance partner in IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat “The Cobra” Pulev (28-1, 14 KO’s). And like the Bronze Bomber, Pulev has no intentions on giving up his shot at Joshua’s quartet of belts.
HISTORY OF AVOIDANCE
Even if all these hurdles were not in place, Tyson Fury still doesn’t believe that Team Joshua would want to fight him. Going a step further, while answering questions with SKY, Fury highlighted that he has fruitlessly pursued a fight with AJ for years. This evasive history has led him to believe that there is no meaningful substance to all the talk that Hearn is presenting to the public.
“Yeah, Eddie Hearn talks a lot of hot air, as usual. I’ve been offering to fight Joshua for quite a while. I’ve been trying to make that fight happen for the last five years, I mean it’s not happened at all. And Eddie is obviously Joshua’s promoter, so he liked to be speaking to my team to make that fight happen and give the fans what they want to do and stop running away from the biggest fight since Lennox [Lewis] fought Frank Bruno. Have the guts to step up to the plate and get flattened and so on!”

Provided that both men remain champions after their next bouts, and a mega-fight is indeed contested, Fury predicts a very sad and soggy outcome for AJ.
“AJ’s style is tailor-made for mine. He’s an upright fighter, walking forward with a classic defense. Strong and powerful, he’s got no footwork, he’s got hardly any resilience and he is a bit gutless when it comes down to getting clipped.
So yeah, I think I knock him out in round two, one, two, three rounds. The first time I connect on him, his legs will do a dance and I will jump on him like that little fat kid did in America that time!
“…I’ll tell you what shot it’s gonna be as well Sugar, it’s gonna be a left hook to the temple. And you’re gonna see him do a Bambi dance all over the ring!”
