Gabriela Fundora Looks Sharp in Daniela Asenjo Title Defense
Using her entire arsenal, Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora (14-0, 6 KOs) successfully defended the IBF women’s world flyweight title with an easy unanimous decision win (100-90, 100-90, 100-90) over Daniela Asenjo (16-4-3, 2 KOs) at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.
From the opening bell, it was all Fundora. The defending champion marched forward, popping Asenjo with sharp jabs and combinations to the head and body. The challenger tried to fight back, but she was forced to fight in constant retreat. Asenjo was out of her league. Sweet Poison continued to pound away with vicious shots up and downstairs during the middle and late rounds in what turned out to be a one-sided beating.
Fundora will be difficult for anyone to beat in the flyweight division. Her handlers want to put her in the ring with the unified champion, Gabriela Alaniz, at some point in 2025.
