Is The Ryan Garcia versus Tank Davis Fight Signed?!
As is his style, popular lightweight boxer Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (23-0, 19 KO’s) has taken to his social media to stir up conversation…or perhaps more controversy. This time King Ry is insinuating that his match versus Regular WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 25 KO’s) is a done deal! Over the past few months, the two have supposedly been working together to hammer out a fight contract.
During this same time, Garcia has been all but addicted to talking about his feelings and developments over his various social media accounts. Conversely, Tank has been quiet as a study hall in a school for the deaf. Hopefully this time King Ry has brought something of substance to the world and not just a huge let down…which is sadly his reigning reputation.
SELLING DREAMS AGAIN?
Garcia has effectively trashed his own credibility by pulling out of a litany of fights which ironically began with Tank Davis back in 2021. Since that time, he has become all but the poster boy for bogus fight information and unfulfilled promises. Even during his recent back-and-forth exchanges with Tank, Davis has repeatedly clowned him and advised that he slow down with all the chatter. Hopefully for King Ry’s sake, this time something of value comes out of his swiftly moving Twitter thumbs.
If Davis and Garcia do clash in the ring, this would be a great look for King Ry. To begin, he would have doubled back and secured the first fight that he flaked on. He already accomplished this with Javier Fortuna. Gervonta Davis would also become the new best adversary that he has ever fought. And while it’s a secondary strap, a win would also put King Ry in ownership of a world title.
At the same time though, given his worm-belly low credibility, a loss to Tank would be a crushing blow to his career. Many people are already itching for an excuse to write Garcia off as is. A defeat at the top level, and heaven forbid by knockout, could be a death knell to Garcia’s place in the sport. Not to be funny though, this is Ryan Garcia we are talking about after all. Said to say, before we get our hopes up too high, let’s just see what actual substance is behind this latest tweet before working ourselves up into a lather. Given his track record, this is likely to be more smoke and mirrors.
