Tony Harrison Praises Tim Tszyu As a Worthy Opponent

For his next in-ring battle, super welterweight fighter Tony “Super Bad” Harrison (29-3-1, 21 KO’s) will take on Tim “The Soul Taker” Tszyu (21-0, 15 KO’s). Similar to undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney, Harrison has traveled halfway across the planet to face Tszyu in his native Australia. Without question, this is a dangerous match-up for both competitors.

Had fate not stepped in, Tszyu, who is ranked #1 (WBO), was all set to stage his first title fight versus undisputed 154-pound champion Jermell Charlo. Yet, that was before Charlo had to bow out due to injury. Rather than sitting on the sidelines waiting for his title shot, The Soul Taker opted to take a stay-busy fight. Going a step further, Tszyu chose to dance with the talented Harrison. In fact, Super Bad is the only person who holds a professional victory over Charlo.

READY TO RUMBLE

When Harrison, ranked #3 (WBO), slips on the gloves to wage war with Tszyu, it will be his first prizefight in just under one calendar year since facing Sergio Garcia. Yet, rather than feel this is a detriment, Super Bad couldn’t care less given that Tszyu has been away from the ring just as long.

“Another thing that made it easy for me to take this fight, he has been off just as long as I have. It ain’t like he got the ups on me, he’s been off and I’ve been off. He’s been off 300 and something days and I’ve been out like 300-something days. So it wasn’t hard.”

Harrison is more than confident that his skillset will be far too much for Tszyu to handle. While he does believe himself to be the more talented athlete, Super Bad did not hesitate to show The Soul Taker his proper respect in a recent interview on the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer.

“For me, it showed the kind of level of fighter that he is and he is definitely a championship level fighter but . . . with my length, my IQ, my skill, I just think it’s me versus Sergio Garcia again.”
