Eddie Hearn Optimistic on Taylor v Serrano Sequel in May 2023!

One of the best fights of 2022 took place in April of that year when the current undisputed women’s
lightweight champion Katie Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) gained a split-decision victory over the reigning unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (43-2-1, 30 KOs).

Their battle was so good that boxing enthusiasts have been calling for a rematch. Insiders are optimistic
that the ladies will fight each other again. But, when will it happen?

ON THE VERGE?

During an appearance on DAZN Boxing Show, Taylor’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, provided
an update on the matter.

“For us, the natural deal that we’re looking towards is for Serrano to fight Katie Taylor in May,
in Ireland, and that’s very much the plan for us.”

Taylor is coming off a comfortable unanimous decision win over then-mandatory challenger Karen Carbajal in October 2022. Following her victory, the lightweight champ was adamant that she wants her next bout to take place at Croke Park in her home country of Ireland. Serrano is currently preparing for her battle against IBF featherweight champion Erika Cruz for undisputed status at 126.

The level of optimism is high that Taylor and Serrano will fight each at some point this year. Fans
of women’s boxing hope it occurs sooner than later. Stay tuned to 3Kings Boxing for continued updates.
