Jermall Charlo Has a Mute 2022 and Needs to Make Noise in 2023
Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22KOs) is one of boxing’s best fighters. However, he’s managed to get on the bad side of fight fans due to the lack of marquee names on his resume. To make things even worse, he’s gone missing in action for 2022.
Originally set to defend his title against Maciej Sulcki in June, Hit Man would suffer an injury that would force him to scrap the bout. Since then, not much has been seen or heard from him other than a few social media videos.
With it looking like Charlo won’t fight at all in 2022, 2023 will bring an immense amount of pressure to fight someone noteworthy. He’s been called out by the likes of Caleb Plant, David Benavidez, Demetrius Andrade, and Janibek Alimkhanuly. A unification fight with Gennady Golovkin or the aforementioned Alimkhanuly appears to be very appealing to the Texas fighter.
However, before any of that can happen, a likely tune-up fight will be in order for the hard-hitting champion. A year of inactivity will surely bring some type of rust, no matter how often you’re in the gym staying sharp. Let’s just hope when he does return he’s a hundred percent healthy and ready to tangle with the best boxing has to offer in and around his weight class.
