Josh Padley Edges Past Aqib Fiaz; Now Targeting Bigger Fights
In his most recent at-bat, super featherweight contender Josh “Paddy” Padley (19-1, 6 KO’s) skirted past Aqib “Ambush” Fiaz (14-2, 2 KO’s) by way of split decision. When the cards were read, Padley edged Fiaz to the tune of 115-112, 114-113 for Padley and 114-113 for Fiaz.
With the win, Paddy, 30, is looking forward to the biggest and most lucrative matches he can pen.
“The biggest fights, the biggest paydays, whatever, you know! Keep working with Matchroom and the team and I am sure that they like the outcome in the last four fights. So I am excited about what the next stage of Josh Padley’s story is!”
When the mic was tossed to Eddie Hearn, his Matchroom Boxing promoter, he expressed his desire to push Padley to his limits.
“Once you conquer Europe and you defend your championship, … you go to world level. So whether it’s a championship shot or a big name, that’s what we’re looking for, for Josh Padley. The domestic stuff doesn’t really appeal that much anymore. We want to roll the dice.”
Now, let’s wait and see what Hearn comes up with for his #8 WBA, #12 IBF and #15 WBC ranked fighter.
