J Rock eyeing winner of Jermell Charlo v Jeison Rosario

Former unified junior middleweight champion Julian “J Rock” Williams is patiently waiting to get back in the ring. He currently has no opponent nor fight date set. However, he’s already got his eyes on the winner of a potential unification bout between WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (33-1, 17KOs) and the man who upset Williams in January, WBA and IBF champion Jesion “Banana” Rosario (20-1-1, 14KOs).

Williams, a Philadelphia Native, was stopped in the fourth round of his homecoming title bout against Rosario. Citing scar tissue issues, the former champion elected to have a procedure to correct the problem instead of going straight into a dangerous rematch, risking further damage.

In an interview with Premier Boxing Champions, J Rock revealed his plans for an interim bout and an immediate shot at the winner of Charlo-Rosario.

“Well the next step is to get back into the ring as soon as possible. I decided to go against exercising the rematch clause because I needed to get surgery on my face because I had a lot of scar tissue under both eyes. Instead of jumping right back in there and possibly developing more scar tissue, I decided to go ahead and get the surgery.”

“I think I’m going to take an interim fight. I’ll be ready to fight the winner of from what I hear, I think Rosario and Jermell is going to unify and fight for the undisputed championship [unification].”

ON WANTING TO FACE THE WINNER

“Oh I’m going to get the winner of that fight.”

With Julian Williams fully recovered and rested up, it’ll be interesting to see who he chooses for his interim bout. His performance will in said match will also be something to watch for. He’s not foreign to adversity, as his two career losses have come by way of knockout. J Rock certainly has skill. However, the questions remain on whether or not he can take a good shot consistently to regain and maintain his championship status. Time will tell us all.
