Jeison Rosario Calls For a Unification Fight Against Jermell Charlo

On the Premier Boxing Channel (PBC) podcast, Time Out with Ray Flores, IBF/WBA “Super” world Super Welterweight champion Jeison Rosario (20-1-1, 14 KOs) was asked about the 154-pound landscape and who he wants to fight next.

Jermell Charlo (33-1, 17 KOs), current WBC world Super-Welterweight champion has been barking about a desire to trade punches against Rosario. Based on his answer to the question posed by Flores, the fighter known as “Banana” has been listening to what Charlo has been saying.

“I’m familiar with Jermell Charlo. Look, Jermell Charlo wants my titles. I want his title and I want to be able to unify the super welterweight division.

My objective of my choice would be Jermell Charlo. He is the best in the division and I want to prove that I am truly the best at 154”.

In the meantime, Rosario said he has his complete trust in Sampson Lewkowicz. Lewkowicz, who is steering Rosario’s career, is president of Sampson Boxing. The champion explained that Lewkowicz has had a few conversations about potential upcoming opponents. He says his promoter will inform him soon what the next steps will be.

If the fight could be made, Rosario – Charlo on paper is one of the more intriguing fights in all of the sport. This would be a clash of styles between the pressure fighter (Rosario) versus the boxer-puncher (Charlo).

As the sport slowly but surely makes the steps to return to “normal” from the current COVID-19 pandemic, boxing fans would gravitate to this kind of fight. This potential bout make roads toward determining “that dude” in the division. Here’s hoping the talk of this fight eventually becomes a reality.
