James Kirkland returns?

Former top junior middleweight contender James Kirkland will be making a comeback April 17 with long-time trainer Ann Wolfe still in his corner! She last worked in his corner for his December 7, 2013 sixth round stoppage of Glen Tapia.

Kirkland’s last fight was four years ago against Canelo Alvarez. Wolfe was noticeably missing from his corner when he was brutally dismantled and knocked out in the third round of that fight.

The only other time she was absent from his corner was against Nubohiro Ishida. Kirkland suffered a first round stoppage in that match-up.

This is not to say he would have beaten Alvarez or Ishida if Wolfe was in his corner, however, many fell he may not have taken a loss to Ishida.

I don’t know how much Kirkland has left at the age of 35, but if he has any chance of a successful comeback, history has clearly shown Wolfe is the best bet as head trainer!

As of now, there is no indication as to when he will return. 3kingsboxing.com will provide an update on this as the information becomes available.
