Emanuel Navarrete vs Eduardo Nunez Should End by Stoppage
On February 28, boxing fans may be in for a treat as the WBO 130-pound champion Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete will face IBF champion Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez. This fight has the potential to be an all-out war with the winner emerging as the top dog of the division.
These two Mexican champions have been on a collision course ever since Sugar won the vacant title in May 2025 over Masanori Rikiishi, proving he’s not just a knockout artist. Nunez called out the WBO champion after successfully defending the title against Christopher Diaz-Velez that following September.
THIS SHOULD BE AN ENTERTAINING EVENT
Nunez is very good at cutting off the ring and forcing a phonebooth battle. He loves digging to the body before looking to land a powerful uppercut. Additionally, his ability to absorb punches and counter with powerful shots often demoralizes his opponents.
Vaquero, once upon a time, was seen as an unstoppable force in the sport. After suffering a loss to Denys Berinchyk for the 135-pound title, he returned to 130 pounds to score a sensational knockout over Oscar Valdez. He recently had the fight against Charly Suarez overturned from a win to a no-contest.
If the fight turns into a war, Navarrete is not afraid to bite down and throw caution to the wind. Plus, the brutal body-puncher will enjoy a four-inch reach advantage.
Boxing fans should sit back and get ready to be entertained. Both champions have a high knockout ratio, so it’s highly unlikely this fight goes the distance.
