Clara Lescurat Gets Big Victory Over Maribel Ramirez. Unification Looming?

In Buenos Aires, Argentina, the fans witnessed the crowning of a new champion as undefeated Clara Lescurat (7-0, 3KO) claimed the WBA Super Flyweight title from Maribel “Pantera” Ramirez (13-10-3, 3KO).

Lescurat immediately started using those boxing skills the moment the bell sounded. She was using the jab and straight right hand, trying to keep the aggressive Ramirez away. La Pantera kept coming forward and focused on going to the body early in the fight.

As the fight continued, Lescurat kept the fast combination punches coming, and she finished everything with the right hand. Ramirez’s punches to the body started slowing down the challenger. However, Lescurat picked up the pace by landing left and right hooks going into the final rounds.

When it was all said, two judges scored it for the Argentinian as the crowd went crazy for the new champion.

WHAT IS NEXT FOR THE NEW CHAMPION?

Lescurat is in a good position in a short amount of time. She can look for a unification bout with another newly crowned champion, the WBO’s Tamao Ozawa. Next, she could look to fight WBC champion Lourdes Juarez, if Lescurat is willing to travel to Mexico. The option that makes the most sense is unification with fellow country champion (IBF) “La Princesita” Micaela Milagros Lujan.

Lujan got a draw for the title against Jorgelina Guanini in 2019. She came back after almost two years away from the ring and won the vacant title via split decision against Debora Gomez in 2021. In November 2021, she defended the title in front of the home crowd against Nataly Delgado.

Unification would be a huge event between the two champions in front of a sellout crowd in Argentina. Whatever the decision, Lescurat has fought her way into the spotlight at the top of the division.
