Liam Smith Open to Rematch with Chris Eubank Jr

Former WBO junior middleweight champion Liam “Beefy” Smith (33-3-1, 19 KOs) is riding high after scoring a satisfying victory over Chris Eubank Jr (32-3, 23 KOs). Smith has no problem running it back, provided Eubank Jr invokes the rematch clause.

The build-up to the fight was epic as both men traded serious insults, making fans want to see them fight even more. Once the fight started, it was all Eubank Jr until Beefy scored two knockdowns in the fourth round for the shocking upset via stoppage. Making this victory even sweeter, Smith is the first fighter to knockout Eubank Jr.

SMITH IS OK WITH DOING A REMATCH

During the post-fight interview, it was revealed that there was a rematch clause by Eubank. The former world champion is more than willing to run it back, if his rival desires it.

“If Chris wants the rematch, I agreed to a rematch clause before . . . If not, then we move on. I’m in a very good position at 160 and 154.”

“For the next month or two, we got big decisions to make.”

Smith is having a tremendous second title run, as this marks his fourth straight knockout. Moreover, he is ranked in the top 5 by all four major sanctioning bodies. This places him within an eyeshot of a title fight at junior middleweight.

Already off to a good start for this year, Beefy has managed to pump serious life back into his career.
