Lopez plans to use more than size to defeat Lomachenko!
Unbeaten IBF lightweight champion Teofimo “El Brooklyn” Lopez (15-0, 12KOs) is currently preparing for the biggest fight of his career as he will take on unified lightweight champion and one of boxing’s top P4P fighters Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (14-1, 10KOs) on October 17 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Arena.
Lopez, who is 23 years old, is a huge lightweight compared to Lomachenko who is the naturally much smaller man. However, Lopez does not believe his size alone will be the determining factor in him becoming the unified lightweight champion of the world.
Speaking to iFL TV, Lopez wanted to make it clear that he has more than just size heading into this mega matchup with Lomachenko.
“I believe there’s many things that’s going to become a factor on October 17, not just the size. You know it’s all about the ring IQ, the footwork, all those things that have to play in this fight you know. It’s not just about you can be the bigger guy you know, sometimes it’s more than that, you know.
That’s what we come to about and we understand, we know that I’m big, we know that I’m a big lightweight, but I’m not just gonna rely on that.”
You have to like the mindset of Lopez going into this fight. Not only is he confident, but he knows that size and strength alone are just two ingredients to his success. No matter how much trash talking he has been talking, he knows just how good Vasyl Lomachenko is.
October 17 is right around the corner folks, so buckle up!
