Mahmoud Charr Makes a Play for a Fight with Deontay Wilder!
It’s no secret that PBC stablemates Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KO’s) and Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz (35-2, 22 KO’s) have flirted with making a fight. The back-and-forth has gone on for years at this point. Sadly, nothing has materialized. Now it would appear that fellow heavyweight Mahmoud “Diamond Boy” Charr (34-4, 20 KO’s) is looking to get in on the action. Feeling that Ruiz was not going to pull the trigger, he interjected himself as a suitable opponent.
WHAT’S IT GOING TO BE?!
While he remains undefeated, Charr has yet to compete during the 2023 calendar year. Although he did win both his 2022 fights, against Nuri Seferi and Nikola Milacic, by early stoppages. Unfortunately for Charr however, he is not currently listed in the top 15 of any of the four major sanctioning bodies rankings.
With this being the case, it’s a pretty tall order to think that Diamond Boy will get a crack at Wilder, ranked #1 (WBC), #1 (WBA), #3 (IBF) and #4 (WBO), in his next match. Clearly, for the moment, Andy Ruiz remains the more coveted target, but we will have to see what the one-time heavyweight champion does next.
