Mbilli Should Target Charlo Or Iglesias As Possible Next Opponents

Mbilli Is At An Opportune Crossroads

Christian Mbilli needs to step level of competition.
Christian Mbilli must fight better opponents such as Jermall Charlo or Osley Iglesias.

Mbilli Has Charlo, Iglesias and Pacheco Within Striking Range

WBC Interim super middleweight titlist Christian “Solide” Mbilli (29-0, 24KO should look to face Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (34-0, 23KO), Diego Pacheco (23-0, 18KO) or Osleys “El Tornado” Iglesias (13-0, 12KO) next.

On June 27, Solide destroyed #7 rated contender Maciej Sulecki in the first round with a perfectly timed uppercut. Despite getting back to his feet, the referee waved off the fight after observing the Polish man wobbling. Now armed with the interim title and a number one ranking, team Mbilli needs to step up the level of competition.

A fight with top-rated Charlo would be a solid pick. Hit Man is coming off a knockout win over Thomas LaManna. The Texan was hoping to fight one-time IBF champion Caleb Plant, but that fight probably won’t happen after Plant’s loss to Jose Resendiz.

There are other options, such as Pacheco, who will face Trevor McCumby on July 19. Pacheco may not be available if Mbilli plans on fighting again in September. Fellow stablemate Iglesias is also a fight worth exploring. The Cuban is also a dangerous puncher with good boxing skills and is on a seven fight knockout streak.

Whoever he fights next needs to be someone of higher quality.
