Caleb Plant Calls Out Team Benavidez For Capping on Declined Fight

Former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (21-1, 12 KO’s) acknowledges that the upcoming fight with former WBC champion Anthony “Dog” Dirrell (34-2-2, 25 KO’s) is not a surprise considering this was mentioned back in 2021. However, Plant and the team of two-time WBC champion David “Red Flag” Benavidez (25-0, 22 KO’s) continue to throw gas on the fire with social media outbursts. Sweethands says fans should not believe Team Benavidez.

The history between the two former champions goes back a long way. When they both were champions, it was believed a fight would happen between the two at some point. However, they never fought, but it did not keep them from taunting each other. Plant brought up how Red Flag needs to keep his nose clean after losing the belt due to illegal drug usage. Benavidez made it clear he wanted to break the face of former champion Plant.

Fast forward and despite neither fighter having a belt, the rivalry continues to burn deep. Fresh after suffering his first career defeat via knockout by undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez, Plant decided to kick things off by attacking Benavidez.

Benavidez clapped back with a post claiming that he would knockout the former champion a lot worse than Alvarez. Next, Jose Benavidez Sr took to social media claiming they will attempt to make the fight with Plant for September.

ENOUGH TALK WE WANT TO SEE THE FIGHT

Well, Benavidez Sr took to social media again to let the fans know that Sweethands has turned down the fight. Plant wasted little time going back to social media claiming that team Benavidez was trying to push a false narrative.

Furthermore, he acknowledged news of the Dirrell fight while telling fans to stop believing the hype coming from team Benavidez.

At this point, both teams need to be locked into a room and not released until a fight is agreed upon. These social media wars are entertaining, but fans are growing tired of all the talk and no-show.
