Jaron Ennis Targets Sebastian Fundora in Potential 154-Pound Super Fight
Jaron “Boots” Ennis is wasting no time in pursuing complete domination of the junior middleweight division. After capturing the unified 154-pound championship, the Philadelphian star identified WBC champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora as the next name on his hit list.
Ennis (36-0, 32 KOs) became the unified champion with a seventh-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Xander Zayas on June 27 in Brooklyn, New York. Following the victory, Boots declared his intention to clean out the division but stopped short of naming his preferred opponent. That has now changed.
GIVE ME FUNDORA
During an exclusive interview on the Put’cha Gloves On Podcast, Ennis made his intentions crystal clear.
“I want Fundora. Bring on that tall, towering inferno. We’re going to chop him down; chop him easy.”
It’s a matchup that makes perfect sense. Ennis possesses elite speed, athleticism, sharp boxing skills, and knockout power. Fundora (24-1-1, 16 KOs) brings an imposing 6-foot-6 frame, relentless pressure, and underrated inside fighting ability. Stylistically, it’s one of the most compelling fights that can be made at 154 pounds.
Both champions enter the potential showdown with considerable momentum. Ennis further elevated his stock with his impressive stoppage of Zayas, while Fundora is coming off a dominant stoppage victory over former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman in March 2026. Like Ennis, Fundora has publicly stated his ambition to become the undisputed champion.
FINGERS CROSSED
The timing also appears favorable. Rumblings within the boxing community suggest that preliminary discussions have begun between the camps, with a fight in November or December reportedly being explored.
If the deal comes together, Ennis versus Fundora would rank among the biggest fights of the year. Beyond the championship stakes, the winner would establish himself as the clear leader of one of boxing’s deepest and most talent-rich divisions while taking a massive step toward becoming the undisputed king at 154 pounds.
