Apparently a new date for the huge welterweight showdown is being negotiated.
The August 25 date for the much anticipated clash between Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia is reportedly cancelled. Negotiations for a new date but there have been reports that September 8 could be it.
The bout will still be aired on Showtime with both combatants vying for the vacant WBC welterweight title.
In the event a new date cannot be negotiated, the opportunity can be given to other fighters ranked high enough by the WBC. Jessie Vargas holds down the #3 spot while the silver champion Kudratillo Abdukakhorov is ranked #4.
Of course there is Keith Thurman who is rumored to be facing Josesito Lopez on August 4. He was set to face the winner of this fight, however, if the fight is off his name could still be in the running.
Errol Spence has also voiced his want for the winner of this fight and could be considered as well.
