David Price is the man to step in for Joseph Parker!

3kingsboxing previously reported that an illness had plagued former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker which forced him to withdraw from the October 26 bout with the ageless Dereck Chisora.

This was very unfortunate as both men were positioning to keep their momentum alive for a title opportunity down the line. It also meant once again another mad scramble for a replacement was in the works.

David Price (25-6, 20ko), at 36 years-old gets the call and has a chance to see a big boost in the ranking if victorious. The once highly regarded Olympic bronze medalist’s career has had plenty of ups and downs.

However riding a three fight win streak, he looked decent enough in his last fight against fellow countryman David Allen to warrant the opportunity.

Chisora undoubtedly would prefer fighting the former WBO champion considering the name value definitely holds more weight. Furthermore, the two combatants had a little beef they wanted to settle.

The 35 year-old long time fixture in the heavyweight division can’t be too dismissive of the replacement challenger considering the significant size and reach advantage.

It should be a fan friendly fight as both men will be looking for the knockout and with their advanced age, a loss would signal the possible end of the loser’s career.

This fight is on the under-card of the World Boxing Super Series tournament finals unification featuring champions Regis Prograis and Josh Taylor at the O2 Arena on October 26th live on Sky Sports.
