Prograis eyeing Spence fight in the near future

Regis Prograis, who’s currently fighting in the junior welterweight version of the World Boxing Super Series, recently discussed his future possibilities. His thoughts on facing IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence may surprise a lot of fans and critics.

What many are unaware of is he fought Spence twice in the amateurs, losing both times; one being a close decision.

He mentioned this on the idea:

“Errol Spence is a monster at 147. If it happens, I think it’ll be a real big fight. You can definitely build a story up behind it. We fought in the amateurs. Of course, if I’m at 147, I think that’ll be a fight.”

As for now, Prograis has a WBSS showdown with Terry Flannegan on October 27. In addition, he has some challenging tasks ahead of him should he defeat Flanagan. Waiting for him in the semi-finals is WBA champion Kiryl Relikh.

Also, on the other side of the bracket is the undefeated phenom Josh Taylor. If the two end-up as the last men standing, that makes for a very difficult final for the New Orleans native. However, if Prograis is able to keep up his winning ways, boxing fans could be rewarded with this potential welterweight showdown.
