Regis Prograis Believes He Breaks Teofimo Lopez Easily
Without question, there is a great deal of speculation surrounding Teofimo “The Takeover” Lopez (18-1, 13 KO’s). Since losing his trio of belts to George Kambosos back on November 27, 2019, he seems to be a shell of his former self. One fighter highly attuned to this insight is WBC super lightweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (28-1, 24 KO’s)

In recent fights, Lopez has turned in two lackluster performances versus Pedro Campa and Sandor Martin. Not only do many believe he was blessed with an undeserved victory over Martin, Lopez was caught on the mic openly doubting his own abilities. In the shark filled waters of boxing this is a big ‘no-no.’ Having witnessed Lopez ponder his own worth as a fighter, Rougarou believes that he would mentally chew up The Takeover before they ever even enter the ring.
“The whole world saw that he questioned himself. I know that about you now! If we ever fight, I have to look at this man in his face, in his eyes and I know that you question yourself. So already, right there, I know that mentally you are weak. Mentally I am on another level, I’m not going to lie. Compared to a lot of people in this boxing game, I am super strong. So mentally, I know he is not strong. He is weak, mentally. So, I’ll break him! I feel like I can break him in the press conference!”
WHO’S NEXT
For the time being, the boxing world is playing the waiting game to find out who The Takeover will duel next. As reported by 3Kings Boxing, it seems that he could very well dance with former undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor. This is somewhat ironic. The irony lies in the fact that when Lopez previously mentioned this fight, Taylor had nothing but vitriol and the brushoff for Lopez. Going a step further though, Taylor is also under tremendous pressure to face Jack Catterall who most think defeated him in his last assignment.
So perhaps both Taylor and Lopez find themselves at something of a mental crossroads. Or maybe they just view a showdown with one another as a mutually lucrative piece of business to lockdown. Yet, regards of what the true motives are for each fighter, there is no questioning that Prograis feels that he dominates them both.
