Lerrone Richards is looking forward to a bright future

Super middleweight fighter Lerrone “Sniper the Boss” Richards (16-0, 3 KO’s) is coming off his best win to date. In his last in-ring tour of duty, Richards took on and thoroughly outclassed Carlos Gongora en route to a split decision victory. Although, there was no reason on Earth why the bout was a split rather than unanimous decision win.

With the spoils of war however, Sniper the Boss also collected Gongora’s IBO super middleweight title. Armed with the secondary strap, Richards is happy with his latest accomplishment and looks toward the future with optimism. A great deal of that zeal is due to knowledge that he now has standing on this side of his last at bat.

“But yeah, I learned a lot of things in there about myself. And one of them is I am officially a world class operator!”

I’M THE GENUINE ARTICLE

There is little doubt that Richards is ecstatic to be a world champion, yet he understands the reality of the situation. If he is going to continue garnering additional respect in the sport, he is going to have to chase increasingly difficult milestones. And that will include securing one or more of the four recognized belts.

“You know I am a proud IBO champion but you know there is still more for me to achieve. I think for this fight it was more for the win, more than anything. Because you get guys who box for the IBO title and they box nobodies. No disrespect to those people, but you got me fighting Carlos Gongora who is top ten in the Ring magazine, top ten in every governing body, dangerous operator.”

MORE TO COME

Heading into 2022, Sniper the Boss is extremely confident but remains level-headed. He realizes that he does not have a ton of fights on his ledger and will require more experience. Bearing this in mind, Richards would like to pen a few more opponents on the level of Gongora before storming the division with reckless abandon. Yet, if the opportunity were to arise, Richards would jump at another available title shot.

“Well people forget, I’ve only had 16 professional fights and I have achieved this. So, I’ve achieved all these titles in such a small amount of fights. So, I just want to keep progressing now, keep learning, gaining as much experience as I can and going up a level to add more string to my bow.”

“And then we will see what the future holds. I do want to get a couple more fights at this level and then we can move to elite …the main thing is myself, but if a belt is vacant or if belts do become vacant, because its being said that Canelo is moving up, I should be first in line!”

Let’s wait and see what the New Year has in store for Lerrone Richards.
