Errol Spence Compliments Keyshawn Davis While Advising Him Patience

Since turning pro back in 2021, lightweight boxer Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis has called for nothing but deadly opposition. As of late, Davis (8-0, 6 KO’s), 24, has regularly barked at fellow 135-pounder Frank “The Ghost” Martin (17-0, 12 KO’s) and his Man Down Promotions promotional crew to get a fight going. So far though, the native Virginian hasn’t gotten too much traction. In a recent interview however, Errol Spence Jr, unified welterweight champion and Martin’s promoter, certainly gave The Businessman, ranked #8 (WBO), #10 (WBA) and #12 (IBF), a large measure of respect.

While speaking with EsNews, Spence outlined his rationale for why he wasn’t overly interested in a Davis match. Still, he managed a sprinkling of accolades over The Businessman.

“I don’t know why people keep saying Keyshawn Davis. He a good fighter – I like him. But he always talking about, ‘I’m only 5-0, I’m only 6-0, 7-0.’ He always say that. So if he fight Frank and Frank beat him he going to say, ‘oh I was only 7-0!’

It’d definitely be a good fight! I feel like he ready, but Keyshawn got to wait his time. I want to see Frank fight maybe Shakur Stevenson. You got Tank, you got a lot of big fights.”

ALL ABOUT THE GREEN BACKS!

Underneath it all though, the decision to not focus on The Businessman boils down to money.

“And he [Martin] not going to get paid nothing to fight Keyshawn Davis. At the end of the day, regardless of all these belts and things like that, it’s about the money, man! ”

Minus Davis getting a sudden boost in draw-power, he likely won’t get the duels he most craves any time soon. Sadly for him, this leaves The Businessman right back at square one – which sees him facing opposition he has no genuine interest in.

Hopefully there will be a productive change in the narrative of a Davis versus Frank Martin showdown. And a change that leads it to happening sooner rather than later. Errol Spence saying he is ready certainly adds credibility to is case. No matter how the winds of fate blow the situation around however, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report all the meaningful information.
