Shakur Stevenson Believes a Devin Haney Fight Is Easy Work!
Two-division champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (20-0, 10KO) effortlessly dispatched top lightweight Shuichiro Yoshino (16-1, 12KO) via sixth-round stoppage. Following the victory, Fearless believes undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney would be easy work.
Haney has a date with former unified champion Vasyl Lomachenko on May 20. The Dream is the odds-on favorite to win, with some in boxing believing he will move up if victorious. Stevenson is expected to be the next in line to conquer the division and has called for a fight with Haney in the past.
STEVENSON MAY GET A CHANCE TO FIGHT HANEY
It appears his wish could become a reality. During the post-fight interview, Stevenson quickly responded after being informed that Haney’s father, Bill Haney, stated his son isn’t leaving the division.
“Tell him come on. I’ve been waiting on this for a long time. I swear to God, I’ve been waiting for that for a long time. Me and Devin been in the ring against each other for years. I’ve always got the best of Devin.”
Fearless was far from done going after the undisputed champion. While speaking with the media, he was very candid in claiming that Haney would be easy work.
“I think it’s going to be easy, I think I’m gonna smoke him. I think I’m going to shock everybody by smoking him, making it a real easy fight.”
There is no denying Stevenson is a special generational talent whose confidence is off the charts. This author doesn’t believe he smokes Haney, but the fight would be a high-level chess match.
With such a mega-fight hanging in the balance, the eyes of the boxing world will be on Haney-Lomachenko on May 20.
