Well here we are again witnessing the hard talk and build up to a former rival fight. This one once saw two of the top fighters in the junior welterweight division go head to head and as one winner emerged, the desire to fight again remains.

Unified junior welterweight champion Josh “The Tartan Tornado” Taylor (16-0, 12ko) won the prestigious World Boxing Super Series tournament with a hard-fought victory over then WBA champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (24-1, 20ko) back in October 2019. There are some inside the boxing community who feel that a hometown decision is the reason Taylor walked away with the victory. Still, nonetheless it was a close and exciting fight.

Immediately following the fight, the newly crowned unified champion called out for a fight with unified champion Jose Ramirez (25-0, 17ko). This was the fight that many in the boxing community are stilling waiting to see. The sentiment is amplified with the recent cancellation of Ramirez’s fight with former world champion Victor Postol (32-2, 12ko). A disease outbreak in China has pushed things even back further.

CAN’T LET IT GO

Since facing each other in the WBSS tournament, neither man has returned to the ring. Both fighters punished each other in ways that the body needs serious time to heal from. However, the fight was so close and exciting that a rematch is something that fans wouldn’t mind seeing.
Rougarou, even now, still feels he has what it takes to beat the unified champion and isn’t lacking in confidence at all. When a picture of the damaged eye the unified champion suffered from that grueling bout surfaced, the hard-punching southpaw from New Orleans couldn’t resist commenting while asking for a rematch.

If you need to be told what comes next, then exactly what world do you live in? This is part where you grab a seat, grab the bowl of popcorn and tell everyone to be quiet.

Taylor, being a proud champion, was quick to respond and it set off a chain of events that hopefully will lead to these two facing each other yet again, and fans would gladly tune-in to watch.
