Teofimo Lopez Continues Chasing Terence Crawford in Vain

WBO junior welterweight champion “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13KO) continues to chase a fight with WBA junior middleweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford. The Takeover must stop pursuing a fight that won’t happen and look to fight in a unification.

The boxing community was in a frenzy after a video surfaced of Lopez and Bud in a heated argument at a UFC event. Lopez apparently felt the need to challenge his former stablemate. To which, Crawford can be heard responding, “outside the ring.”

Lopez didn’t waste any time taking a shot at Crawford on social media.

The WBO champion has been trying to get a fight with Bud for some time. He even criticized the WBA champion’s resume which resulted in a heated back and forth on social media.

CHASING A FIGHT THAT WON’T HAPPEN

In this author’s opinion, Lopez is doing this for attention because it’s a fight that has no chance of taking place. First off, Crawford isn’t under the Top Rank banner anymore. So, the higher-ups are not going to sign off on it.

Next, they are not close to being in the same division as they are separated by two weight classes. Lastly, Crawford is looking for a big payday fight. Hence why he’s been trying to get a fight with unified super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

After defeating Steve Claggett on June 29, Lopez claimed a move to welterweight was on the horizon. Honestly, he needs to stop these futile challenges towards Crawford and focus on a unification fight with any of the champions in his division.
