Tiara Brown Sweeps Gabriela Bouvier To Become WBC Mandatory
In a featherweight showdown with title implications, Tiara “The Dark Menace” Brown (17-0, 11KO) pitched a shutout against former world champion Gabriela “La Gaby” Bouvier (19-13-1, 4KO).
The Dark Menace came with everything in this fight. Her defense, footwork, and counter-punching were on full display. With women’s fights only being sanctioned for two-minute rounds, Brown made every second count.
Her ability to shift from offense to defense kept La Gaby off balance the entire fight. In addition, she used angles to maintain punch distance and even fought well when up against the ropes.
Bouvier had moments in the fight, especially with landing solid body shots and the occasional counter righthand. Furthermore, she fought hard until the final bell and never gave up by coming forward, providing for an entertaining battle.
Yet, Brown’s overall skillset proved too much as all three judges scored it 100-90 in her favor. She is now the mandatory WBC title challenger, which puts her on course to face champion Skye Nicolson.
In the post-fight interview, Brown called out Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn and Nicolson to make the fight.
