Super Middleweight Contender William Scull is Ready for the World Stage

What makes boxing such an intriguing sport is fighters emerge out of nowhere, surprising the entire boxing community. IBF number one ranked super middleweight William “El Indomable” Scull (19-0, 9KO) has managed to box his way to the top.

THE UNKNOWN TOP CONTENDER WILLIAM SCULL

El Indomable has quietly worked his way within an eyeshot of fighting for a championship. The 30-year-old Cuban, residing in Argentina, surprised many inside the boxing community by defeating Evgeny Shvedenko on July 2. That victory was significant as a title eliminator that earned him the top spot.

The division is on lockdown until the trilogy between undisputed champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is resolved. Now, the question remains: what is next for Scull?

WHO SHOULD HE FIGHT NEXT?

Despite being ranked number one, he is still somewhat of an unknown in the sport. He has only fought in Germany and his adopted country of Argentina.

Scull could look to fight IBF number six rated Ali Akhmedov, providing his victory in the upcoming match-up against Gabriel Rosado on September 17. Then there is former IBF champion Jose Uzcategui. Scull, also ranked #12 (WBC), can try to challenge Carlos Gongora, Lerrone Richards, and Erik Baziyan.

These are all good fights that would put him more on the radar within the boxing community. Scull will need to travel abroad for some of the fights, which will play a major role in providing more exposure for the unknown super middleweight.
