Kevin Walsh Calls Out Bruce Carrington After Retiring Conlan!

American featherweight Kevin Walsh marched straight into hostile territory, against Michael Conlan and left with the biggest win of his career. Now Walsh is calling for the ultimate prize — a title shot from WBC featherweight champion Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington.

Fighting at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Walsh (20-0, 10 KOs) silenced the hometown crowd by grinding out a hard-fought split-decision victory over local favorite Michael Conlan (20-4, 10 KOs). The judges scored 96-94 twice for Walsh, while one had it 97-93 for Conlan. It wasn’t pretty, but it was gritty, and it was enough.

Both fighters spent long stretches feinting and sizing each other up, but when it came to making a statement, Walsh was the one pressing the action. Conlan, a multi-time world title challenger, struggled to find his rhythm and hesitated far too often. Walsh, sensing the moment, pushed forward just enough to steal the rounds that mattered most.

For Conlan, the loss marked a crushing setback. Once, eyeing another run at a world title, his performance told a different story. After the fight, he announced his retirement and closed the chapter on a respected career.

BRING ME SHU SHU!

The night belonged to Walsh. Still buzzing from the upset, the undefeated Brockton native didn’t waste a second calling out the WBC champion.

“Shu Shu, where you at, baby? Let’s go! Give me my shot! You’re a hell of a fighter, but it’s my turn now; let’s go!”

With the win, Walsh claimed the WBC International featherweight title — putting him firmly on the radar at 126 pounds. More importantly, he just proved he can go into enemy territory, handle pressure, and walk out victorious.

For Team Carrington, this could be the perfect opportunity: a rising, undefeated contender with momentum, confidence, and zero fear. Walsh kicked the door open in Belfast. Now he’s banging on the champion’s door and he’s not going away quietly.
