Frank Warren Says Anthony Joshua is the Most Logical Fight for Daniel Dubois
On June 11, Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (18-1, 17KOs) made easy work of former WBA Regular heavyweight champion Trevor Bryan (22-1, 15KOs), stopping him in four rounds to take his title. Dubois is currently riding a three-fight win streak since suffering his first professional loss at the hands of Joe Joyce back in November of 2020.
Dubois recently made it clear that he prefers Anthony Joshua to be victorious over Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch, as he views the former champion as a better matchup for himself. The always confident promoter of Dubois, Frank Warren, echoed that while he would favor Dubois over any other heavyweight fighting today. He also believes former unified champion Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22KOs) in particular is tailor-made for Dubois.
“I fancy him against anybody; he’s a big, big puncher. He can box as well; he’s got a great jab! I […] I’ve said it before, I honestly think Joshua is made for him.”
People are surely going to raise their eyebrows at what Warren said. While Joshua has shown vulnerabilities, getting stopped by Andy Ruiz in 2019 and getting outclassed by Oleksandr Usyk last September, the fact remains that he’s a much more experienced and seasoned fighter than Dubois. Simply put, both fighters are flawed, and while you have to respect the power of Dubois, there are still unknowns about how he’ll react when faced with adversity again in the ring against a quality fighter such as Joshua.
Regardless of all that, he sits in a great position to challenge the winner of Usyk vs Joshua 2 as the holder of the WBA Regular title.
