Hearn Addresses Fury Signing Rumors

Hearn calls Fury signing rumors

Earlier this week rumors swirled around social media of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and him signing with promoter Eddie Hearn and Matchroom. Hearn addressed those rumors earlier this morning.

“There have been a lot of rumors that he will join up with us. That’s not true, as far as I know,” he toldSky Sports.

“We’re not close to any kind of agreement. We’ve had some conversations. I think he’s talking to [other promoters] right now”

“If he comes with us, there’s a very straightforward road into a lot of heavyweight fights. Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte, Tony Bellew.”

“Ultimately the grand prize of Joshua because that is a huge fight.”

Fury has been training hard for his return later this year but has still to firmly reach any type of deal with any promoter. Prior to him being off for almost 28 months he was associated with Frank Warren but according to sources it’s unclear if Fury will return with him.

A move to Hearn and Matchroom does seem to make the most financial sense in that all roads could lead to what most consider to be the biggest fight in British boxing history between Fury and Joshua.

This adds to an already muddled mess in the heavyweight division with American champion Deontay Wilder still awaiting his turn at a unification fight with the winner of Joshua and Joseph Parker. Wilder is coming off the biggest test of his career against Luis Ortiz in a fight in which the champion dug deep to secure a knockout victory in the tenth round after overcoming some shaky moments.
