Adrien Broner Apologizes to Al Haymon & Showtime After Conference Call Outburst

Ahead of his August 20 fight with former WBC 135-pound champion Omar Figueroa (28-2-1, 19KOs) and four-division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (34-4-1, 24KOs) took time from their training camps to promote their fight. Almost immediately after being asked a question, Broner went off on the top brass like a bunch of lit fireworks.

BRONER IS BIG-MAD

“I’m gonna be a hundred percent honest with you, Brian. Ain’t wit none of this shit they got goin’ on. I feel like Al Haymon and Stephen Espinoza is bullshitting because why is we doing a press conference on the computer? When you got guys like […] they don’t do Floyd’s shit on no fucking computer, when he fight a YouTuber.

They don’t do nobody else shit on the computer, but they wanna do my shit on a computer. So, that’s tellin’ me they don’t give a fuck about me. So, when you say it’s fuck me, it’s fuck y’all; and at the end of the day, that’s what I really just came here to let y’all know.

I see it, anybody can see it. At this point, y’all bullshitting. At this point, y’all bullshitting. Y’all been supposed to make this fight. Y’all givin’ us dates, y’all keep pushin’ our dates back. Y’all, c’mon man, who the fuck do a six-month camp? Y’all trippin’, so what I’m gonna do, you know, Brian, I’m gonna talk to you at 11 on Thursday.

So, what I’m gonna do is tell Omar, keep training your ass off. I’m training my ass off, too. Let’s go in there and put on a great performance. But I’m gonna get the fuck up on up outta here and go back to sleep, y’all. Hey Brian, I’ll see you on Thursday, alright?”

Then, Broner abruptly got up and walked off. It was explained, since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States in 2020, that ZOOM media events are introductory press conferences for PBC events. What generally follows are in-person press conferences between the two combatants. That is what made this rant from “AB” more perplexing. At this point, he knows protocols and how things are run.

CONTEXT IS CRITICAL

This is not the first time Broner has thrown a shot across the bow at Espinoza and Haymon. In April 2020, the Cincinnati native gave an ultimatum of $10 million for his next fight. After a meeting with the two, things seemed copacetic. That is no longer the case.

Adrien Broner apologizes for his conference call outburst

After having a chance to cool off, the Cincinnati, Ohio native took to social media to apologize to all those he offended.

Sum this up as “AB” once again being “AB”. In many ways, he is the Cheddar Bob of boxing, someone who shoots himself in the foot. While he has this upcoming fight with Figueroa, you have to wonder if this latest stunt will come back to bite him. After being given countless chances and opportunities, will this be the last straw?
